The Consultative Meeting for Siyavula education resources was successful

The Ministry of Education in partnership with OLE Rwanda successfully conducted the Consultative Meeting from 27th to 28th July 2009 for the localization of Siyavula Education resources to Rwanda. The rational of choosing these resources in Rwanda is that they are hybrid and can be used as electronic and printable resources, their use shall cut cost of books that still high for learners and teachers, the integration process shall easily accommodate latest learning, teaching innovations and methodologies to meet Rwanda’s education needs.

The objectives of the consultative meeting were met. The report of the review on the potential of Siyavula education resources in Rwanda was presented; we developed a roadmap for the customization of Siyavula resources and we reflected on strategies to scale them up countrywide for easy access and use to meet learning and teaching needs for quality basic education in Rwanda. Specific objectives in using Siyavula resources are to avail low cost education resources for Teachers and Students, provide electronic and printable courseware syllabus (Students and teachers) and supportive documents for ICTs integration, support the use of outcomes based learning approaches, innovative learning, methodologies and assessment standards in Schools and to promote learner centered approaches, activities and projects.
